I have had quite the week haha... first off, I went and did service in
Indianapolis saturday, it was so fun! We went and helped at a park for
"PBS in the park," I guess they do it every year and it's where all the
characters from PBS come and hang out and the kids can take pics with
them and what not.. I saw Clifford, Curious george, Elmo, word girl,
EVeryone! and holy crap, I even saw Mr. Mcfeely from Mr. Rogers! the
original! it was super crazy haha.. pretty much what I did was help with
crowd control and guide some of the characters around who couldn't see
out of there costumes. Some of the missionaries got to dress up as the
characters (I was jealous) I got stuck with peep and quack, as well as
Maya and Miguel.. it wasn't too bad.. Before it started I was walking
around Indianapolis with some other elders trying to find the park and
we wondered into a different park where they where hosting "Indy-Pride"
week.. oh boy. haha I had no clue when we first entered the park and I
was looking at the stands that had tons of weird underwear (and other
things) and I remembered thinking "this is definately not PBS in the
park. Sure enough we had a cop (who I'm not quite sure was really a cop)
come up to us and say that we probably should leave, I asked him if
this was where PBS in the park was and he was like no, this is Indy
Pride... AHHHH! I definately got out of there quick haha. other things
that happened this week, well, Rob wants me to baptize him! I'm way
excited!! he recieved a confirmation in church this sunday that
everything is true, he wrote 100% on a paper during sacrament and passed
it to me and I knew exactly what he was talking about! yay! Sunday I
had the opportunity to go to an event called "why I believe," in
Indianapolis where recent converts from all over come and speak, Joanna
Denney (Robs wife) was speaking so we got to ride up with them. It was
so sweet!!! the spirit was soooo strong. There was a lady there who was
abused pretty much all her life by her kids and her husband, although
she was abused, she took the rap for a crime her children committed and
spent 24 years in prison and was facing a death sentence. She was soon
found innocent miraculously and was released (I don't know the exact
details). she met the missionaries shortly after she got out and wanted
to be baptized, to make a long story short, President Collins
interviewed her, looked up her records and what not and had an
overwhelming feeling through the spirit that she was telling the truth.
He wrote the first presidency asking for permission because she was
still on parol, and President Monson wrote back a couple days later and
said that she needs to be baptized right away! It was such an amazing
story, I really hope I have the opportunity to go again!
About My companion, He's from Victorville California, he's been out 20
months, and he's a handfull! but a really obediant missionary, and I
mean really obediant.. He's teaching me a lot haha.
